Any thoughts on the Witching Night?

As WAR's first live event has now finished I wonder what everyone's opinion of it was. Did anyone manage to fill the event influence bar? How were the PQ's in the RVR lakes?

Although I was immensely looking forward to the Witching Night I didn't get to experience much of it, due to commitments over the weekend I only managed to jump in the game for about an hour. I picked up one mask dropped in a scenario but that's it, I saw now ghosts or gouls, got nowhere near any of the special PQ's cos they were all miles away and heard very little on the chat about the event.

I thought I had missed my chance to participate, but they extended the event a few days and last night I finally managed to put a good few hours into the game while the event was taking place. Now again I didn't make it to the special PQ's in the RVR lakes but while questing around I encountered a mass of restless spirits in one of the normal PQ's in The Blighted Isle. After previously seeing neither hide nor hair of any ghosty things I managed to kill 50 spirits in about 15 minutes as they were respawning every minute.

But, that's about it, I managed to pick up another mask, in fact the same mask dropped 3 times but even after 50 dead restless spirits the influence bar had hardly filled and earned me no rewards.

So for my thoughts on the event - basically, great idea, mediocre execution. For a casual gamer like me who can often only play for an hour a night, any event I have to play for a good chunk of time to earn rewards has to last more than a week. I hope Mythic are learning from the Witching Night so that the next event - Heavy Metal is more enjoyable.

The event was over already ... I checked the TOK and live event was done. The tab gone.

Also the Cauldrons in PVE areas I had one I kept to myself and was extremely remote..was not there ..

Unless you  killed the 3 witch like mobs and blew up the cauldron I have no clue what you were killing... Normal mobs maybe.

My bar moved at a decent pace in T4.    I got the cloak and put off the mask but I was a bit too late.

As for RvR PQ...  sucked.   T4 had nobody in it.     When it first started there were just a handful of destruction vs a full warband of Order... we didnt even have enough in T4 to make a warband.

So for people like me..I was screwed because I couldnt enter the lower RvR lakes.
That is where the action was... T2 and T3.  head start players like me who had a main picked after elder test  are in T4 and twiddling our thumbs waiting on the population to catch up.

Heavy Metal will make T4 much better... hopefully I am 40 by then.

I thought it was a good idea.  Unfortunately in T2 order formed a semicircle around the Destruction Warcamp with at least 2 full warbands, while the majority of destruction sat inside the warcamp waiting for scenario queues to pop.  Since order was intent on camping any Destro that decided to wander out of the camp, and destro was intent on waiting on scenarios, no one really managed to get any meaningful PvP in.

The few times I managed to get a group together to actually fight against the order it resulted in both sides in a stalemate.  Melee dps were the only ones that were able to be killed.  Rdps and healers would just run back behind their lines whenever they got low on health.  Tanks can't be killed in T2 when they got a healer backing them and Mdps would get killed before they would even get in range of the opposing side's healers or rdps.

I'm sure things change a lot in T3 when everyone gets their anti-healing debuff, and it wouldn't be such a stalemate.

remember to insert something clever here later

Can't say as I was paying much attention to any special event type things, too busy running away from nasties that I had no business menacing.  Although I did get a couple of damn ugly gobbo masks from ghosts I stumbled upon, literally stumbled upon :)
